Normally our Caterday Quilt feature comes on Saturdays but, sometimes, we might cat nap…or cat around…or…oh, well…here it is! As everyone knows, on Caterday we like to feature photos from our readers showing their cats and dogs “helping” them quilt, or quilts about pets, or pets just testing out quilts for quality control purposes. Cats, especially, are known to keep a close eye on sewing machines and guard fabric stashes. Here are just a few of the wonderful photos recently posted by our readers. The captions are in their own words.
Caterday is for fun…even when it comes on a Sunday…
from Penny Dunn: “My baby, Rhys, supervising my quilting efforts.”
from Tanis Martineau: “This is Jekyll trying out my recently finished quilt. I made this as a gift for my cousin and call it road trippin because it contain all the colours you would see on our typical Alberta road trip.” Tanis also adds, “As for the colour I used a jelly rolls and just added some co-ordinating pieces.”
We’re not exactly sure of the pattern name, but it looks like a Jinny Beyer. There’s just so much potential for modern designs with the hexagons. When you look closely you can see each hex with a cube center. It’s the layout to get the shading correct that holds the secret.
We just love all the pets, and the quilts, and seeing glimpses of sewing areas. Thanks to Marty, Jen, Penny, Tanis, Carol and eveyone else who has shared their love of both their furry companions and quilts.
