Love and Diamonds in Quilts

Good Morning from 24 Blocks! Here are some works recently shared with us by our readers, all of which would be great for Valentines. Three are purposely Valentine quilts or tablerunners, but one seems to have diamonds–another symbol of love. With such cold outside we do need the colors of Valentines and the spirit of love.

from Shyamala Rao: ‘A Rose for You’. Valentines Day gift for the beloved. Foundation paper pieced and quilted… The hearts are appliqued and the back ground is crazy paper piecing. The quilt size is 18×21 inches. Original rose is from a book pattern but I have altered the design lines a bit to give more roundness. The quilt is quilted and rose is thread painted.

from Freda Riddle. This is a closeup, before quilting, of a work that Freda originally meant to be a Stained Glass Window quilt. She made some changes and then named it “Diamonds in the Desert”. She writes, “The diamonds seem to glow even though all the fabric is cotton. It must be the colors.” You can see the entire quilt here.

from: Maria McGhee: “I have been working on Valentine Table Runners. After all the Glitz of Christmas, I needed something to really brighten my room. Here is one that I just finished. This one is fun and playful.”

from: Peggy Catt Braun Stringer: “I called this one “You Are Loved” and gave it to my friend to use while she has chemo”
