Have you ever worked with batik fabric? We can’t get enough of it, due to the amazing patterns and gorgeously bright colors! These incredibly intricate patterns are created by using a pen-like instrument to draw wax onto the fabric; when the fabric is dyed, everything covered in wax resists the dye. Wax is removed with boiling water and then the fabric is either re-dyed or set and prepped for use. While made in several Asian countries, it’s the batik from Java, Indonesia, that is perhaps the most well known and sought after. We found some amazing photos submitted by our viewers and wanted to share them with you! Check ’em out and enjoy!
