Good Morning! With Spring now fully sprung, you are sure to enjoy these interesting quilts –and one quilted basket! Hopefully they will give you some ideas for new quilting projects.
Thanks go to Mary, Yaminah, and Sew Fresh Quilts for sharing their work with all of us. And, as always, we thank everyone in our 24 Blocks online community for helping make it such a vibrant place for quilters to encourage each other and to marvel in the beauty of quilts of all kinds.
from: Mary Thiedke Grady: “Thanks to my friend, Martha Plante, for getting me hooked on making little quilted boxes. This is the latest one, inspired by a pattern from Quilter’s World (Mexican Star Basket). I came across a pattern for a pieced bunny face and decided to use it with the basket pattern as an Easter gift for the little girl across the street. I’m knitting a small bunny to place inside, but will probably add Easter basket grass and a little candy. She can use it later for whatever she’d like.”
We love quilted baskets, too! They can be done in ways that are either elaborate or minimalist. This one is delightful. Notice the bunnies’ ears.
from: Sew Fresh Quilts: “A modern take on Kona Solids – Fox Kits quilt. Pieced and quilted on my little Janome 2030QDC.”
Sew Fresh Quilts also has a wonderful blog with many ideas on quilting. We love the freshness of her work.
from: Yaminah Casey Williams: “I made this quilt for the Chesterfield County fair last year. it got third place.”
This is beautiful and we can see why it was a winner!
