Featured Member Quilts: May 3 Morning

Good morning! It’s beautiful where we are and we hope that everyone is going to have a good Derby Day. There have been many beautiful quilts recently shared with us by our readers. Two of them carry memories of a family member or friend who has passed away. The last is a bright baby quilt. As always, quilts carry both memories and hopes.

from Rachel Maida: “My grandma just passed and her life was sitting at a quilt frame, so happy. When I saw this (a quilt we had featured on 24 Blocks) it reminded me if one she made for me. I know it’s not the same but the design just made me think of her greatness. Thanks grandma. Never forgotten.”

The only thing we can say is that this is one of the most beautiful quilts we’ve ever seen. There are few words to adequately describe it. It shows artistry and skill. We know it will be used for generations to help share the memories and stories of Rachel’s Grandmother. It’s so nice, too, to see the word “happy” used to describe her.

from: Cathy Weissert: “My friend Carol picked all the colors for this quilt, she passed away 4 years ago and I have named it Whirly Girls. I still miss her, but she is still with me.”

Notice the very beautiful quilting in Cathy’s work of art that carries memories of her friend. Everything about it is finely done…a mark of the honoring of friendship. Thanks, Cathy, for letting us all see your “Whirly Girls”.

from: Nona Smith: “This is the same baby quilt, just a little brighter colors.”

Nona had earlier posted a quilt in the same pattern but using very differing colors. We love this bright one! Thanks, Nona, for sharing both of them with us all.
