from: Linda Deis: “I saw a question recently, “what inspires your quilting?”. In the case of this quilt it was finding the striped fabric of the inner border. At first sight it reminded me of fall, cooling temperatures and the turning of the maple leaves. The block I used also reflected the sharp points of the maple leaf as did the reds and golds and greens. The maple leaf appliquÈ in the blocks’s centers and along the border have veins and stems created by using a very narrow zig zag stitch on my machine. The quilt has had much use. It’s my daughter’s favorite colors and resides on her bed year round.”
